Distributor Program Objectives
Watlow's distributor program is designed to satisfy the following objectives and interests:

To our end customers... simply stated, our ultimate objective is to provide total satisfaction to the end users of Watlow products. This includes providing the level of intelligent sales support they expect and want to pay for.

To our distributors... our actions and decision will promote a relationship between Watlow, Watlow sales agents and distributors based on candor and trust. Watlow is committed to minimizing sales channel conflict and has the responsibility of coordinating direction, purpose, decision-making and communication between the field and the factories. To this end, Watlow may contractually define territorial, product and/or customer limitation.

To ourselves... the purpose of our distributor program is to maximize market coverage, product availability and sales for all Watlow products.
Overall, all actions and decisions will be consistent with Watlow's company values.

The distributor program objectives are broken down into three audiences because any decision or action must satisfy all three audiences, not one or two at the expense of the other. Watlow should not unreasonably ask distributors to do things that would be detrimental to the financial health of a distributor. Nor can distributors expect Watlow to refrain from the pursuit of new business potential currently not being realized through the distributor program. And neither party can afford to dissatisfy the end customers responsible for the whole business exchange.

Why define specific policies?

A growing number of distributors have expressed concerns about the fair and equal treatment of one distributor versus another, as well as security concerns stemming from the lack of clear written policies defining Watlow's management of distributor issues.
The distributor policies do not eliminate flexibility. Different markets, different distributor capabilities and different regions all may require different decisions and actions. It is Watlow's belief that the local Watlow sales agent is closest to the local market situation, and; therefore best suited to make decisions concerning local market coverage. While the distributor policies will not preclude Watlow sales agents from making different decisions in reaction to similar circumstances, the policies do define where Watlow believes in uniformity and where we believe in flexibility.
